Omega Bible Code

This program searches for Equidistant Letter Sequences (ELS) in the consonantal Hebrew text of the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC 4.20, the oldest complete manuscript of the Hebrew Bible). English verses are King James Version. The WLC Torah contains 304,850 letters; the Koren edition used in the original Witztum–Rips experiments has 304,805 — a handful of spelling differences between manuscript traditions, which means an ELS found in one edition may shift or vanish in another.

Each search reports the statistically expected number of hits given the letter frequencies of the text. Short words at wide skip ranges are mathematically guaranteed to appear many times in any long text — Hebrew, English, or Moby Dick. A result is only remarkable relative to that expectation, and even then, flexible spellings and search parameters make genuine significance very hard to establish. This tool shows you the numbers so you can judge honestly.
